We begin the first of our monthly 100-mile “foodshed,” dinners. Choosing to consume food that is produced within 100 miles of your home comes with all of the benefits of local, seasonal eating: more flavorful foods, smaller environmental footprint, better health, and support for local farmers. The concept of the 100-mile dinner forces a mental shift from eating globally. It forces you to think more locally in order to ensure everything you eat is within a 100 mile radius of your table.

Through research we explore what’s actually grown close to our home and begin to appreciate not only the bounty of our local region, but the major implications of eating foods from around the world.

Join Chef Marc Vetri, Beverage Director and Sommelier Steve Wildy as we celebrate monthly the bounty of the Greater Philadelphia’s regional food system…which is more than 70 counties in five states (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania), with a special emphasis on the Pennsylvania Dutch country and some of the richest, most productive, non-irrigated agricultural soils in the world!
